On 6 June 1954, the 25th anniversary of the discovery of penicillin was celebrated at St. Mary's Hospital Medical School, Paddington, England, in the presence of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. Sir Alexander Fleming presented the Duke with a culture plate with the specimen of the mould that made penicillin.
